Traveler's Notebook Olive Edition
トラベラーズノート オリーブエディション

We don't know whether it's a planned out move, or whether Traveler's Notebook just happened to decide to match this year's Pantone color: green. Anyway, green lovers out there, our wish was heard! Traveler's Company is coming out with a new limited edition leather color to their original Traveler's Notebook lineup.

Our aim was to achieve the color of old-growth forests that have been spreading their roots since ancient times. Henry David Thoreau built a log cabin in the forest around Walden Pond and wrote Walden: Or, Life in the Woods as he lived a life of self-sufficiency. Michio Hoshino became captivated by the Alaskan wilderness and took many beautiful photographs before he passed away in Siberia. There were also Basho and Santoka, who found inspiration for their poems by walking through the woodlands of Japan, and there were Brautigan and Kerouac, who wrote about living in the untamed forests of America’s Big Sur region. Forests have always given the energy to create new pieces to the many artists who have traveled through them.

I'm a solid example of an audience that's immediately sold by its copy.

The brand's reference to Henry David Thoreau definitely appeals to those who live in Massachusetts. My friend in Japan who loves to hike also felt that Traveler's Company had this leather cover tailor-made for her, as she plans to carry it on her hiking trips.

I'm super excited about this traveler's notebook because I'm an extreme green addict. I've been telling all my stationery friends for years that I WISH Traveler's Company would produce a green counterpart to their popular Blue edition cover.

Taking a closer look, we have the olive leather cover, an Olive Edition brass ballpoint pen, and an olive color pen holder.

Upon closer examination, the green is more of a dusty olive. From my observation, Traveler's Company has always produced this faded leather color theme to present a more authentic aesthetic. If the green was more vibrant, it might come off as synthetic looking and not natural. I can't wait to see the glossier result of long use and wear.

I can see the cover going really well with the brand's other rusty colored inserts, brass products, and accessories.

Social media wise, Traveler's Company on Instagram has been releasing series of images that are filled with green items (most of them camping, outdoorsy oriented) to compliment the new Olive Traveler's Notebook.

The release date:
Within Japan: March 24th, 2017 Friday
Other countries: April, 2017

I'm getting mine via a friend in Japan. I'll update here once she informed us the time of her LIVE feed as she joins other TN enthusiasts in Tokyo to queue up the night before at Traveler's Factory Nakameguro!
